Shema Koleinu: Growing a Relationship with the Amidah
Share
The Amidah is a central pillar of Jewish prayer, traditionally said at least three times a day. In this 4-part class, we will explore the central themes of the Amidah, practices connected with it, and deepen our own relationship with a prayer that has accompanied the Jewish people for thousands of years.
Whether you feel lost when you arrive at the Amidah during a service, or you have a daily relationship with it: this class is for you. Through engaging with classical Jewish texts, modern interpretations, and different translations we’ll make space to explore our practices together in a supportive environment.
This is a free online class, open to all. Register to join. Contact McKenzie Johnson at mjohnson@tisrael.org with questions.
About the Teacher: Jayce Koester (they/them) is a teacher, chaplain-in-progress, and Hebrew College rabbinical student. Jayce loves learning Torah with all ages and is an enthusiastic singer, eager Talmud student, and lover of all things that grow (people included). They're always excited to talk about Jewish ritual, science fiction, what they're cooking this week, and how cute their two cats are.
This class is offered as part of the Center for Adult Jewish Learning Open Door program.
