Rabbi on the Block: Boston Jewish Film Festival Screening and Conversation

On Tuesday, November 7 at 7:00 p.m., the Temple Israel community is invited to attend a screening of Rabbi on the Block, Brad Rothschild’s profile of visionary leader Tamar Manasseh, an African American Rabbi from Chicago’s South Side. Manesseh wants to bridge the gap between Blacks and Jews, and brings her unique form of activist Judaism out of the synagogue and into the streets.

The film screening will be followed by a live in-person conversation with Director Brad Rothschild and film subject Rabbi Tamar Manasseh, moderated by Temple Israel of Boston member Maria Isabel Rosario.

The screening is part of the 2023 Boston Jewish Film Festival and will take place at the West Newton Cinema.
